The Tradition Behind the Roscón de Reyes

The Roscón de Reyes is the traditional dessert to celebrate the arrival of the Three Wise Men. In Catalonia, it is a tradition to hide two surprises inside the roscón: a dried bean and a figurine of a King. Whoever finds the figurine in their piece is crowned with the golden cardboard crown that decorates the center of the cake, while the person who gets the bean is the one who has to pay for the roscón.
